Eddie Murphy and Jonah Hill are prepared to make everyone uncomfortable in You People, a new Netflix comedy coming to the streaming service this weekend.
Directed by black-ish creator Kenya Barris, with a screenplay co-written by Barris and Jonah Hill, You People tells a story that Hollywood has been fascinated by since Sidney Poitier came to dinner: interracial couples. Hill stars as Ezra Cohen, a white, Jewish bachelor who finally finds the woman of his dreams—a Black, Muslim woman named Amira (played by Lauren London).
While Ezra and Amira find it easy to love each other no matter their differences, their families are a different story. Amira’s parents, played by Eddie Murphy and Nia Long, don’t exactly get along with Ezra’s parents, played by Julia Louis-Dreyfus and David Duchovny. Uncomfortable comedy ensues, no doubt.
