Photo #1 - Other Countries - Otta Nottathil - 21620222ethiopiaഅഡിസ് അബാബ: വിമാനം പറക്കുന്നതിനിടെ രണ്ടു പൈലറ്റുമാരും ഉറങ്ങിപ്പോയതോടെ വിമാനം ലാന്‍ഡിങ് അര മണിക്കൂര്‍ വൈകി. എത്യോപ്യന്‍ എയര്‍ലൈന്‍സ് വിമാനത്തിലെ പൈലറ്റുമാരുടെ ഭാഗത്തുനിന്നാണ് ഗുരുതര വീഴ്ച സംഭവിച്ചത്.

സുഡാനിലെ ഖാര്‍തൂമില്‍ നിന്ന് എത്യോപ്യ തലസ്ഥാനമായ അഡിസ് അബാബയിലേക്കു പോകുകയായിരുന്നു വിമാനം. 37,000 അടി ഉയരത്തില്‍ പറക്കവെയാണ് പൈലറ്റുമാര്‍ ഉറങ്ങിയത്.

വിമാനം ഓട്ടോ പൈലറ്റ് മോഡില്‍ ഫ്ളൈറ്റ് മാനേജ്മെന്റ് കമ്പ്യൂട്ടര്‍ (എഫ്.എം.സി) വഴി റൂട്ട് സജ്ജീകരിച്ച ശേഷമായിരുന്നു പൈലറ്റുമാരുടെ ഉറക്കം. ലാന്‍ഡ് ചെയ്യേണ്ട സമയം കഴിഞ്ഞിട്ടും വിമാനം കാണാത്തതിനെത്തുടര്‍ന്ന് എയര്‍ ട്രാഫിക് കണ്‍ട്രോള്‍ (എ.ടി.സി) വിമാനത്തിലുള്ള പൈലറ്റുമാരുമായി ബന്ധപ്പെടാന്‍ ശ്രമിച്ചെങ്കിലും സാധിച്ചില്ല.

പിന്നീട് ഇറങ്ങേണ്ട റണ്‍വേയ്ക്ക് മുകളിലൂടെ വിമാനം പറന്നതോടെ ഓട്ടോ പൈലറ്റ് സംവിധാനം അലാം മുഴക്കിയതോടെയാണ് പൈലറ്റുമാര്‍ ഉണര്‍ന്നതെന്നാണ് വിവരം.
