New Delhi: Maruti will reveal the pricing of the Grand Vitara towards the end of this month while deliveries will start from October onwards. The Grand Vitara already has received a huge amount of bookings to the tune of 50,000 with the full hybrid version getting a healthy chunk of those bookings due to its efficiency. Nearly half of the bookings have been for the hybrid which indicates a demand for higher fuel efficiency despite the extra cost of the full hybrid system.
The automatic 1.5 mild hybrid variants are also in demand while the AWD variant should see good sales too as it is a unique feature for its class. Since the Grand Vitara would be retailed via the Nexa dealerships, the variant names read as Sigma, Delta, Zeta, Alpha, Zeta+ and Alpha+. It is interesting to note that the AWD variant will only be available as a manual on the Alpha trim. This would be the first Maruti Suzuki car to be launched in India with an AWD system and also the first car in its class to have this feature along with its sibling the Toyota Hyryder.
The hybrid variant meanwhile will be available on the top-end Zeta+ and Alpha+ trim. The full hybrid Grand Vitara has a different engine compared to the mild hybrid Grand Vitara along with a different gearbox. The full hybrid Grand Vitara would be available with an e-CVT automatic along with an EV mode. Unlike rivals, the Grand Vitara does not offer turbo petrol or diesel but the hybrid and mild hybrid do compensate for that.
We expect Maruti to position the Grand Vitara at different price points with the lower variants having the standard mild-hybrid with the manual/6-speed automatic to the fully loaded strong hybrid variants. We expect prices of the Grand Vitara to start aggressively at Rs 10-11 lakh while the full hybrid variants would be Rs 18-19 lakh.
