U.S. Embassy Addis Ababa is pleased to announce the Embassy is registered as test site for the June 2023 Foreign Service Officer Test (FSOT).

Upcoming FSOT Dates

U.S. Embassy Addis Ababa is offering the FSOT on Monday, June 5 from 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM and 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM.  American citizens will be able to register during the open period using the following link http://www.pearsonvue.com/fsot/. Space is limited and based on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Registration closes:           June 1, 2023

Test date:                            June 5, 2023 (8:00 AM – 11:00 AM / 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM)

Applications are valid only for this test and will expire when the testing window closes.  If you have a documented need for testing accommodation, you must request and receive approval for your accommodation before scheduling your test.

Candidates are responsible for their own travel to/from Addis Ababa for the test, and will need to bring a government-issued photo ID to access the Embassy compound.  Please do not bring laptops, tablets, or other large electronics to the Embassy compound.

Once an application is submitted it cannot be changed, and candidates may test only once in a 12-month period.  Click here for answers to General FSOT FAQs.

Eligibility Requirements

To be eligible, the U.S. Department of State requires that each candidate be:

  • A U.S. citizen on the date the candidate submits the registration package.
  • At least 20 years old and not older than 59 years of age on the day the candidate submits the registration.
  • At least 21 years old and not yet 60 on the day the candidate is appointed as a Foreign Service Officer.
  • Available for worldwide assignments, including Washington, D.C.
